How to use a SWOT template, step by step

  1. Define one clear objective. A SWOT for "should we launch product X?" is sharper than a generic company SWOT.
  2. Gather data and a small group. Pull metrics, reviews and competitor info; invite 3–6 people from different functions.
  3. Fill Strengths and Weaknesses first. These are internal and easiest; brainstorm without filtering.
  4. Add Opportunities and Threats. Look outward at market, tech, regulation and competitors.
  5. Prioritise each quadrant. Keep the 3–5 items that truly matter; cut the rest.
