Which websites link to yours, and do any of them look like spam?

Find out how many websites link to yours and whether any look like spam, with no account and no card.

How to check your backlinks in three steps

Type your domain, like yourbusiness.com.sg. Leave off https:// and anything after the first slash.

Press Check my backlinks. The checker looks your domain up in DataForSEO's link index.

Read the three next steps first. They say which links to check, which sites to ask and where to earn more.

Your backlink results, explained

NumberWhat it counts
Referring domainsHow many different websites link to yours. DataForSEO counts a subdomain, like blog.example.com, as its own website.
BacklinksEvery live link to your site, counted one by one. One website can send hundreds, from a footer or a sidebar.
Domain rankDataForSEO's rank for your domain, which runs from 0 to 1,000 and shows here divided by 10. DataForSEO works it out from the links pointing at you with the original PageRank formula, so links from strong sites push it up. Don't expect it to match Ahrefs' DR or Moz's DA.
Spam scoreThe average spam score of the pages that link to you, out of 100. DataForSEO scores each linking page on 18 signals, like a domain name full of numbers, no HTTPS or a missing title tag. 0 to 30 is low, 31 to 60 is medium and 61 to 100 is high.
Top 10 sitesThe websites with the most links to you. Each row shows how many links that site sends and the spam score of its linking pages.

A high spam score says the pages linking to you look like low-quality sites. It doesn't prove a link is hurting you.

Which links to remove, which sites to ask, and where to earn more

Start with the spam scores in your top 10. Say a site you've never heard of scores high, and you or a past agency paid for links. Ask that site to take the link down. Google says most sites never need its disavow tool, so keep it for links that won't come down.

Then ask. The sites that already link to you know who you are. A short email asking for a link to the page that sells your main service is the easiest link you'll get.

Then earn. Aim for more websites, not more links from the same one. If one site sends you half your links, count them as one link and look for new sites.

Check what your last agency's link building got you

Paid someone to build links? Type your domain and read the top 10. Suppliers, partners and local press you recognise are real links. Sites you've never heard of, with high spam scores, are the ones to ask about.

Find out which pages to fix first, and which to write next

Links point at pages, so give people pages worth linking to. Our AI SEO Software audits your site and lists what to change on which page.

On the Grow plan, from S$159 a month, it also builds a plan from your site and your competitors' sites: which pages to fix and which to write next, for Google and for AI answers like ChatGPT. Then it writes the articles in your voice.

Plans start at S$79 a month, paid in Singapore dollars, with no setup fee. We set up your account for you. Audits and articles use credits from your plan: a site audit takes 3, and the Audit plan comes with 75 a month.

Not sure which links to remove? Our team checks them free

Our free site audit covers your technical setup, your pages and content, and your backlinks, toxic links included. A person on our team reads it and tells you in plain English what to fix first. You get a WhatsApp from us straight away and a reply within one working day. If we can help, you'll get a quote, and if we can't, we'll say so. Our SEO plans start at $600 a month.

Questions owners ask about backlinks and this checker

Could old links from a past agency be hurting my rankings?
They could, and your top 10 shows where to look. Google says it can tell which links to trust in most cases. Paid links are the real risk, because Google's spam policies count buying links as link spam. If you're worried, get a free site audit and our team will go through them.
Should I disavow the links with a high spam score?
Usually not. Google says most sites never need its disavow tool. It's meant for sites with many spammy or paid links that have caused, or will likely cause, a manual action. Ask the site to remove the link first.
Do I need an account or a card to check my backlinks?
No. Type a domain and you'll see the results. You get 3 lookups a day, and we only ask for your details if you want our team to look.
Why don't my numbers match Ahrefs or Semrush?
Each tool keeps its own index of links, so the counts differ. Domain rank is DataForSEO's measure, not Ahrefs' DR or Moz's DA. Compare sites in one tool, not one tool against another.
How many backlinks is a good number?
There isn't one number to aim for. What counts is how many websites link to you compared with your competitors, and you can type their domains here to see.
Can I check a competitor's backlinks?
Yes. Type any domain. If more websites link to a competitor, that's one reason they may rank above you.
How do I get more websites to link to mine?
Ask the sites that link to you already. Then ask people who know your business: suppliers, partners, associations you belong to and local press. A page worth quoting, like a price guide, gives them something to link to.
